Throughout this challenge, we’ve learned four practices: See Hear Feel, Feel Rest, Feel Flow, and Feel Good. Each develops concentration, clarity, and equanimity, leading to various benefits that enhance everyday life. Practicing any mindfulness technique can help you feel more focused, in tune with your body and mind, and at ease.
Here are specific benefits again for each practice:
See Hear Feel: Increased awareness, emotional regulation, behavior change
Feel Rest: Stress reduction, sleep improvements, increased sensitivity to the body
Feel Flow: Increased resilience, enhanced Mind-Body Connection, adaptability
Feel Good: Enhanced well-being, reduced depression, enhanced relationships
These techniques form a mindfulness toolbox, allowing you to personalize your practice based on your unique needs.
Choose a practice using the ION framework;
Interest – There are times in your practice where you’re more interested in exploring a given area.
Opportunity: There are times when a particular aspect becomes especially available or relevant to you.
Necessity: There are times that you have specific needs that a certain technique can best address.
Incorporating these techniques into a consistent daily practice will help maximize mindfulness benefits. Combine seated formal practice with short moments throughout the day, such as during breaks, commutes, or stressful moments.
Regular practice allows you to internalize the techniques, making them more accessible and effective in daily life. Think of mindfulness like any other training – the more you practice, the stronger your skills will be. Set aside a specific time each day for formal practice and develop a habit of incorporating mindfulness into your daily routine.
Remember that while mindfulness can be very effective, mental health also sometimes requires professional intervention. It’s a mistake to think that mindfulness can cure everything. However, it complements other approaches, so making it a part of your overall plan of well-being is a smart decision.
Thank you for joining this challenge and committing to self-improvement and benefiting others. I hope you continue to include mindfulness into your life for ongoing mental health and well-being. We’ll conclude our challenge with a 10-minute recording, practicing See Hear Feel while being especially aware of any Rest, Flow, and emotional positivity that may arise.
